Rural employers compete for the same people as everyone else. Out here, the leader is usually the reason someone stays.

Why Scottsbluff

The Panhandle’s meeting hub.

Scottsbluff and Gering sit on either side of the North Platte River in the western Panhandle, beneath Scotts Bluff National Monument, with Chimney Rock a short drive east. Regional West Medical Center and Western Nebraska Community College are among the area’s largest employers, and agriculture runs through nearly everything else.

Most larger meetings land at the Gering Civic Center, a 25,500 square foot conference facility with a divisible grand ballroom and eight meeting rooms, and Scotts Bluff County has more than seven hundred hotel rooms. Western Nebraska Regional Airport has SkyWest service to Denver, and Denver itself is roughly three hours by car.

Gering

Gering Civic Center

25,500 square feet, a grand ballroom that divides into five rooms, and eight meeting rooms. Seats about 1,000 theater style or 750 at banquet tables.

Scotts Bluff National Monument

The Setting

The bluff, the Oregon Trail history, and Chimney Rock nearby give out-of-town attendees a reason to stay an extra night.

Why Chris Fits

Five things a Scottsbluff event gets from him.

When a speaker is coming this far, the visit should be worth the trip for everyone involved.

  • A Nebraskan who will make the trip. Chris lives in Fremont. Scottsbluff is about seven hours west by car from Omaha, or a flight into Western Nebraska Regional Airport by way of Denver. He arrives the day before so nothing depends on a same-day connection.
  • More than one session on the same trip. Since he is already out west, many groups pair a general session keynote with a breakout or a half-day leadership workshop for managers. He did exactly that for the Iowa Health Care Association, and a full-day workshop is available too.
  • Content your people can use on Monday. Every program runs the ten principles of You Are Capable of More, with practical tools for leading people, keeping good employees, and growing sales.
  • Someone who builds businesses today. As President and COO of Uniti Med and GQR Healthcare and COO of Nebula, he helped grow Uniti Med 10x in revenue in two years. Much of that business is healthcare staffing, so the rural hospital workforce problem is one he works on every week.
  • A book for every attendee if you want one. Signed copies of the Amazon bestseller and Paris Book Festival winner make a natural welcome gift or sponsor giveaway, and the free toolkit keeps the conversation going afterward.
A small-town hospital or co-op does not get to replace people easily. That makes every small moment between a leader and an employee count for more.

On speaking to rural employers

Nearby Pages

More western Nebraska and Front Range pages.

If your meeting rotates between the Panhandle and nearby states, or you are comparing host cities, these pages cover the rest of it.

Also serving Gering, Terrytown, Mitchell, Bridgeport, Alliance, Sidney, Chadron, and the rest of the Panhandle. If your community is not named here, the answer is still yes.

The Framework

Four movements. Ten principles.

Every session runs the same architecture as the bestselling book, which is what lets a chamber luncheon, a school assembly, and a company all-hands build on each other across a community.

1

The Foundation

Ownership and time. What is still inside your control in a year mostly spent reacting.

2

The Breakthrough

The comfort ceiling and the inner voice. The section every room goes quiet for.

3

The Standard

Truth over praise, and the hidden gear. Who in your life will actually tell you the truth.

4

The Purpose

Finishing, and leaving people better. The close, and the one people bring up afterward.

The Book

A book your people take home.

You Are Capable of More: A No-Excuses Guide to Becoming Your Best Self. An Amazon bestseller from Game Changer Publishing, with a foreword by Ben Newman, and the winner of the How-To category at the 2026 Paris Book Festival.

Ten chapters across four movements. The free companion toolkit includes a discussion guide, a self-assessment, and a thirty day challenge, none of it gated behind an email address. Panhandle hospitals, co-ops, and associations use it for welcome bags, sponsor giveaways, and leadership book studies after the event.

Questions

Scottsbluff planners ask these.

Does Chris travel to Scottsbluff?
Yes. Chris lives in Fremont, Nebraska. Scottsbluff is about seven hours west of Omaha by car, and Western Nebraska Regional Airport has SkyWest flights to and from Denver. He arrives the day before so there is time to settle in and see the room, and travel is worked out with you as part of the booking.
Which Scottsbluff-area venues does Chris speak in?
Most larger meetings in the area are held at the Gering Civic Center, which has 25,500 square feet of space, a grand ballroom that divides into five rooms, and eight meeting rooms. Whatever venue your group has booked, the session is built for that room and that schedule.
Can Chris do more than one session on the same trip?
Yes, and since he is making the drive or the flight west, it is the best way to use the visit. A common pairing is a general session keynote followed by a breakout or a half-day leadership workshop for managers, which is what he delivered at the Iowa Health Care Association convention. Full-day workshops are available too. All sessions are in person.
What kinds of Panhandle groups book Chris?
Hospitals and long-term care organizations, colleges, agriculture and cooperative groups, banks, utilities, chambers, cities and counties, and state associations holding a meeting in western Nebraska.
How do we check availability?
Send your dates, the venue, who will be in the room, and what your people are working on. You will hear back within one business day with availability and a plan for the session.
