Daybreak on WOWT 6 News
Chris joined Erin Hartley and Serese Cole in studio on launch morning to talk about You Are Capable of More, the survey behind it, and the four things that most often hold capable people back.

The full segment, launch morning.
Launch morning, in Omaha.
First Alert 6 Daybreak is the weekday morning newscast on WOWT 6 News in Omaha. Chris sat down with anchors Erin Hartley and Serese Cole on the morning the book came out, and they talked about what he wrote, who he wrote it for, and why the idea stayed with him long enough to become a book.
You Are Capable of More: A No-Excuses Guide to Becoming Your Best Self was published by Game Changer Publishing on August 13, 2026, with a foreword by Ben Newman. It is available on Amazon, and Chris will be signing copies at The Bookworm here in Omaha.
The book started with a question Chris kept running into as an executive and as a speaker, which is why so many capable people quietly settle for less than they are able to do. He surveyed more than two hundred people to find out. Ninety two percent said they believe they are capable of more than they are currently doing, and the reasons they gave came back in four consistent patterns.

Chris is available for in-studio and remote segments on the book, self doubt, leadership, and the healthcare workforce. He responds within one business day and can usually accommodate short-notice bookings.
The four barriers.
The reasons people gave most often in the survey, and the angles that travel well to other shows and formats.
Self-Doubt
The barrier people named more than any other. It usually shows up as quietly deciding you are not the right person for something before anyone else has a say.
Fear of Failure
Waiting for a guarantee that is never going to arrive, and what changes when the attempt starts to matter more than the certainty.
Busyness and Time
A full calendar is the most convincing excuse there is. Chris talks about what people actually do with the time they say they do not have.
Comfort
The most comfortable version of your life is rarely the best version of it. This is the barrier people are slowest to name out loud.
The conversation, word for word.

Many of us want to become the very best versions of ourselves, and a local author has a new guide to finding that path. Joining us now in the studio is the author of You Are Capable of More. First of all, we love the title. When we first heard it, we were like, ooh. Chris Sund is here, thank you so much for being here. Tell us how you decided to come up with this topic, and how you really dove in.
Thank you. The idea first came from a personal mission I gave myself about seven or eight years ago, and that was to help people become the best version of themselves. I won't get into the long story of how I came to that, but when I started doing it, I began writing and taking all the notes I could, personal lessons, things I learned, and documenting them over the last couple of years. But then I thought, well, what if what I think isn't right? So we needed a survey. We surveyed over 200 people across the country. About half were in leadership positions and half weren't. And what we found out is that 92 percent of the people who took that survey felt they were capable of more than they're currently doing today.
“Ninety two percent of the people who took that survey felt they were capable of more than they're currently doing today.”
Chris Sund · WOWT 6 NewsI think a lot of people would feel that way, right? So based on what you found in that survey, what do you think holds people back the most from their greatest potential?
Great question. The number one barrier that was listed was self-doubt. That kind of couples with fear of failure. And then the other two we saw, that were pretty close behind it, were being too busy, or being too comfortable. When you get in your comfort zone, it's hard to get out of it, right?
So what do you hope people take from this book?
A few things. One, there are about 10 different principles and a lot of lessons in there. But I also wanted to make it more than just a book. So we have a website, youarecapableofmore.com, where we have the same assessment that people took during the survey. It takes a couple of minutes. It shows what more looks like for you, but also what could be holding you back. And once you get to the end, it directs you to free resources. All of the articles, everything, are free. There's a lot of help on there. So regardless of whether they read the book or not, what I really wanted to do is, if this is holding you back, here's some advice to take that first step.

Chris Sund · WOWT 6 NewsAnd Chris does have a great website with tons of resources. I've seen it for myself. So You Are Capable of More, right here, this comes out today. It's a big day for you. Where can viewers find it?
Great question. Today it launches first on Amazon at 12 o'clock. If you go to the website, there's a book launch, and then it'll be hitting all the stores. We actually have an event coming up at The Bookworm on Wednesday, September 3rd as well.
Well, good luck with everything. It's a big deal. Thank you for joining us, Chris.
