About the Interview

A hometown station, a hometown story.

Mix 105.5 is Fremont’s local station, which made it the right place to talk about a book written by someone who lives here. Chris Walz started where most people would, which is how Chris got to this point in the first place.

The answer went back to more than a decade in healthcare staffing. Chris kept meeting people who did not recognize their own capability. He would tell someone about a great opportunity and hear back that they did not think they were the right fit. It happened often enough that he started looking into why, and what kept coming back was self doubt and a fear of failure, usually in the form of an inner voice talking somebody out of the next step.

The moment that turned it into a book came at a holiday party seven or eight years ago. The spouse of one of his employees told Chris that the company had changed her husband’s life, and not only financially. He was a better person at home. Chris describes that as one of the best feelings he has ever had, and it became the mission he has worked on since, which is helping people become the best version of themselves.

From there the conversation covered the business, including Uniti Med with GQR Healthcare and the AI company Nebula, and the number three ranking on Inc.’s list of fastest-growing companies in the Midwest. Then the book itself. You Are Capable of More runs 172 pages across 10 principles, with a 20 page playbook at the end so people can reflect and apply the material rather than just read it. It hits Amazon midday Thursday, August 13, with store shelves following over the next week or two.

Chris also pointed people to the free resource library at youarecapableofmore.com, which includes more than 30 articles, assessments for identifying what is holding you back, and workshops and worksheets, all available whether or not somebody buys the book.

Ninety two percent of people said they are capable of more than what they are doing right now. Around seventy one percent said they are not acting on it.
