Where Chris Spoke: September 2026
Eight engagements, three television segments and two bylined articles. A short record of each stage, what was said there, and where to find more.
In September 2026 Chris Sund spoke at The Bookworm in Omaha, the AOHP Annual Conference in Tampa, DisruptHR Omaha 6.0, the Iowa Health Care Association in Des Moines, the Virginia Community Healthcare Association in Williamsburg, the ACHE Wisconsin Chapter in Pewaukee, DisruptHR Kansas City 6.0 and the Montana Health Care Association in Billings. The month’s themes were workforce motivation, retention and the small moments that shape care.
September is the busiest month of the conference year for healthcare associations, and this one ran from a hometown bookstore to a railroad bridge over the Kansas River.
This page starts a monthly series. Each month gets one page listing every stage Chris spoke on, the session he gave, one detail from the room, and a link to the full event page. For the complete list of past and booked engagements, see Speaking Events.
The September stages
The Bookworm, Omaha
September 2 · Omaha, NE · Book talk and signing
Chris opened the month at home with a talk on You Are Capable of More at The Bookworm, Omaha’s independent bookstore. The evening ran in three parts: a short talk on the book and the ten principles behind it, open questions from the room, and a signing. It was free and open to anyone who wanted to come, and the question portion turned out to be the best part.
AOHP Annual Conference
September 9–11 · Tampa, FL · Keynote
Chris delivered The Spark Advantage: Motivating Today’s Workforce for Tomorrow’s Success to the Association of Occupational Health Professionals in Healthcare, a room of occupational health professionals from hospitals and health systems. The keynote is built on SPARK, the five drivers of sustained engagement: Support, Purpose, Appreciation, Relationships, and Knowledge and Growth.
Shanna Dunbar, Director of Operations at Total Workplace Health, wrote afterward that “His content was engaging, relevant and informative to the health care space.” The full keynote recording is on the event page.
DisruptHR Omaha 6.0
September 10 · Papillion, NE · Five-minute talk
Twenty slides, fifteen seconds each, five minutes total. Chris gave Stop Building Fences, the case that retention bonuses and golden handcuffs keep people in place while launch pads help them grow. The event was hosted at Supportworks in Papillion and organized by Claire Mueller and the team at The Olson Group.
Claire Mueller said the talk “resonated with our audience and challenged us all to look at employee retention from a different lens.” The same idea ran in Inc. a few days later.
Iowa Health Care Association
September 13–16 · Des Moines, IA · Preconference session and breakout
Two sessions for long-term and post-acute care leaders from across Iowa. Chris led The Leadership Exchange as a 90-minute preconference session on September 13, then presented The Power of Small Moments: Turning Good Care into Great Experiences as a 60-minute breakout on September 14. Both carried CE credit.
Virginia Community Healthcare Association
September 16–18 · Williamsburg, VA · Keynote
Chris brought The Spark Advantage to community health center leaders from across the Commonwealth at the VCHA annual conference in Williamsburg, with a focus on burnout, generational shifts and the culture that keeps talent.
Tracie Liguid of Hampton Roads Community Health Center wrote that “Chris offered insight on how each person in an organization can help create a ‘stay’ culture.”
ACHE Wisconsin Chapter
September 21 · Pewaukee, WI · Moderator and panelist
At The Ingleside Hotel, Chris moderated Managing for Morale: Effective Management Techniques to Retain Your Staff and then joined the panel Sustainable Strategies to Support Healthcare Professionals, bringing the view from inside healthcare staffing to two conversations on workforce sustainability for Wisconsin healthcare executives.
DisruptHR Kansas City 6.0
September 23 · Kansas City · Five-minute talk
Five minutes on the Rock Island Bridge, the venue built on a 1905 railroad bridge over the Kansas River. Chris gave Your Best Hire Already Works for You, a talk written for this stage on how many roles companies fill from outside that someone already on the payroll could have filled. The event was organized by Matt Filing and Zach Brown of Lockton Companies.
Montana Health Care Association
September 27–30 · Billings, MT · Keynote and two sessions
Chris closed the month in Billings with three sessions for long-term and post-acute care leaders from across Montana: the signature You Are Capable of More keynote, an interactive Leadership Exchange on retention, culture, motivation and change, and The Power of Small Moments, built around his CARE framework.
