Home Services & Specialty Contractor Speaker

Book More Jobs. Keep Your Best Techs.

Chris Sund speaks to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, insulation and remodeling companies, and to the associations and buying groups that bring them together. His sessions cover the parts of the business that decide a good year: selling to homeowners without discounting, recruiting and keeping technicians, booking the call, and using AI to get proposals and follow-ups out the door. He presented to insulation contractors at the MICA 2026 Fall Business Meetings.

Where Do Home Services Companies Win or Lose the Year?

A home services company is a sales company, a recruiting company and a customer service company that also fixes furnaces, pipes and roofs. The trade skill is the price of entry. The business is decided in the kitchen-table conversation, the phone call that does or does not get booked, and the technician who stays another year or leaves for the shop down the road.

Selling to Homeowners

Price objections handled with LAARC instead of a discount, and LOCKS for knowing what the homeowner still needs before saying yes.

Technician Recruiting & Retention

Speed to contact, referrals, the first week and a lead tech or service manager worth working for.

CSRs & Call Booking

The person who answers the phone is the first sale. Recognition and coaching for the team that books the work.

AI for Proposals & Follow-Ups

Estimates, follow-up messages, job postings and reviews drafted in minutes with tools any shop can afford.

What Does Your Team Take Back?

Chris built his sales instincts carrying cases into stores for a brewery and his recruiting instincts running a staffing company. Both translate directly to a shop where the techs sell, the CSRs book and the owner is always hiring.

  • How to answer “your price is too high” without cutting the price
  • Follow-up discipline on every estimate that went quiet
  • What a homeowner needs to believe before saying yes
  • Recruiting technicians faster than the shop down the road
  • The first week that keeps a new tech past day 90
  • AI prompts for proposals, follow-ups, job postings and review replies

Proof: Specialty Contractors at MICA

The Midwest Insulation Contractors Association brings together commercial and industrial insulation contractors, abatement contractors, manufacturers and distributors. At the MICA 2026 Fall Business Meetings in Omaha, Chris closed the program with Take Back Your Time with AI: Practical Tools You Can Use Monday Morning, working through members’ real proposals, follow-ups and reports live. Every attendee left with a copy of his book.

He presents the same session to post-frame builders at the NFBA Conference & Expo in Columbus, Ohio, in February 2027. The sales material comes from his sales keynote, which he delivered to more than 800 sellers at the Definitive Healthcare sales kickoff.

What Home Services Planners Ask

Has Chris spoken to contractor audiences?

Yes. He presented Take Back Your Time with AI to insulation contractors at the MICA 2026 Fall Business Meetings in Omaha, and presents the same session at the NFBA Conference & Expo in February 2027.

Can he teach our techs to handle price objections?

Yes. The LAARC method (Listen, Acknowledge, Ask, Respond, Confirm) is built for the moment a homeowner says the price is too high. It treats the objection as the customer still talking, not a wall to knock down. See how to handle price objections.

Does Chris cover technician recruiting?

Yes. Recruiting is his business: he runs one of the largest healthcare staffing companies in the US. He covers speed to contact, referral programs, pay transparency, the first week and the lead tech as the retention lever. See how to recruit skilled trades workers.

Is the AI session technical?

No. It uses tools a small shop can turn on this week, with no IT department and nothing custom. Members bring real tasks, like estimates and follow-up messages, and work through them in the room.

What formats are available?

A keynote, a half-day workshop or a full-day workshop.

Can attendees get the book?

Yes. MICA gave every attendee a copy of You Are Capable of More. See bulk orders.

The Book

You Are Capable of More

The bestselling book behind the keynote, and the 2026 Paris Book Festival winner in the How-To category. Ten principles for closing the gap between what a team is producing and what it is actually capable of.

At the MICA Fall Business Meetings every attendee went home with a copy. Shops and buying groups use it for techs, CSRs and service managers.

Meet Chris

He Sells, Recruits and Keeps People for a Living

Chris is President & COO of Uniti Med and GQR Healthcare and COO of Nebula. He helped build Uniti Med from startup into one of the largest healthcare staffing companies in the US: 10x revenue growth on the core brand, #3 on the Inc. Regionals list of the fastest-growing companies in the Midwest, and a Fortune Best Workplaces award.

Recruiting is his business. A staffing company lives or dies on how fast it finds people, how well it treats them and whether they come back for the next assignment, so the hiring and retention material comes from a Monday-morning job, not a book.

Before staffing he spent ten years in restaurants and beverage, managing restaurants and then running sales and marketing for a brewery: carrying cases, working with distributors and store managers, and asking buyers for shelf space. He has not worked in the trades and says so from the front. He is the bestselling author of You Are Capable of More, a Maxwell Leadership Certified coach, and writes for Inc. and Forbes.
