Student Leadership Conference Speaker

Leadership Skills They Can Use Before They Graduate

Student leadership conferences are full of teenagers who were told they have potential. Chris Sund gives them something to do with it — the same principles he uses running three companies, translated for people leading a council, a team, or a club.

What Student Leaders Walk Out With

Most student leadership content is about traits — be confident, be a good listener, lead by example. Useful, and impossible to act on. Chris teaches behaviors: how to hand someone a job and actually let them do it, how to say the hard thing to a friend, and what to do when the group stops caring halfway through the year.

  • How to delegate without either hovering or disappearing
  • Saying the difficult thing to someone you also have to sit with at lunch
  • Why people quit groups over how they were treated, not the work
  • Keeping momentum after the first month of enthusiasm wears off
  • Research they can quote: 92% of adults believe they are capable of more

Adapted for student groups — why members drift away and how to keep them.

The Power of Small Moments

How the way you treat people daily becomes your reputation as a leader.

What Organizers Ask

Is this a keynote or a workshop?

Either, and the workshop tends to be better for a leadership cohort. A group of forty student leaders can practice the conversations rather than just hear about them.

Will it feel like it was written for adults?

No. The principles are the same ones Chris uses at work, but the examples come from clubs, teams, and group projects — the leadership these students are actually doing right now.

How long should the session be?

Forty-five minutes for a keynote, ninety for a working session. Chris will tell you which fits your agenda once he sees it.

What about budget?

Chris works with school and student organization budgets and will give you a straight number quickly.

The Book

You Are Capable of More

The bestselling book behind the talk — ten principles for closing the gap between who you are now and who you are capable of becoming.

Leadership conferences often send every attendee home with a copy. It keeps the material working after the retreat ends. Bulk pricing and signed editions are available.

Meet Chris

He Leads for a Living

Chris is President & COO of Uniti Med, GQR Healthcare, and Nebula, and took the first from startup to one of the largest healthcare staffing firms in the country — 10x revenue growth and a Fortune Best Workplaces award.

He is also a Maxwell Leadership Certified speaker and coach, which means the leadership material is a real curriculum rather than a set of stories with a moral attached.

For student leaders, that combination matters. The person teaching them is doing it Monday morning with actual stakes.
